Watching twitter, reading blogposts, catching up on plurk, and perusing facebook has reminded me that again, it is time to check my “I’s”.
It is interesting to watch just how much “I” appears in a lot of our conversations…….
I am doing this, I believe this, I agree, I disagree, I just wrote a blog post, I just posted a presentation, I just finished my book, lots of “I’s”.
And yes, I do it too.
Wondering if it would be possible to make this next year more of a conversation of “us” or “we” or “them” etc.
Take the time today — perhaps this week — or maybe this entire month to talk more about what others are doing than what YOU are doing.
Showcase what your students are doing, your teachers are doing, your admin are doing.
Take the time this week to read back through your blog posts, your twitters, your comments and read how many I’s and My’s you say. Try to cut that in 1/2 or even more.
Not saying at all that you don’t have an opinion and what you are doing is more important……but, personally, I have found that when “I” take my eyes off me, it really becomes easier to notice others.

I think you are right…I mean…I should have said….ummm…
