I have been invited to be a “spotlight” speaker at the WEMTA conference in March and the title of this post is the title of the session.
And I am inviting YOU to be a part.
I want to talk with teachers, good teachers, who are already doing a good job with their students……can bring more to their students, can open up opportunities of learning for their students.
I want to showcase teachers WHO are already using these opportunities and share how they are doing just that.
If you are a teacher, any grade level, who is involved in some sort of collaboration, some sort of online use of tools, some “techie” tool — such as interactive white boards, etc — or you know of just such a teacher……….please let me know.
My goal at this session is to praise the teachers who are there for what they are already doing………..and to give them ideas of how to achieve even more with simple and PROVEN ideas!!
Thanks for your help!!
Mark early March on your calendar, I might need people to call in!

Hi Jen,
This sounds fabulous. Celebration is definitely the way to go. I would love to be involved.

Jen,
I’d love to help.
I teach high school, and last semester I started a class blog for my grade 11/12 students. Starting the classroom blog http://www.mrshartjes1.edublogs.org was one of the best things I’ve ever done to motivate and engage my reluctant and struggling learners. I am definitely going to continue with it this coming year. I got so much positive feedback from parents as well as the students.
My students told me they wished more teachers had classroom blogs because they like working on the computer at school since they were so comfortable using the computer at home.
I also started a “Website of the Week” announcement that I emailed to my colleagues to share any digital resources that I came across that I thought might be useful to them. That also got positive responses. I met with anyone at lunch or after school who wanted help using anything that I recommended.
It was a great way to work collaboratively with teachers in other departments. I’m looking forward to doing more of this.
I’ve been blogging and podcasting for almost 2 years. I started http://www.teachersatrisk.com because I wanted to share what I’d learned after teaching “at-risk” kids for more than 20 years.
Much to my delight, my blog and postcasts have been well recieved. I’ve even had two of my blog posts published by Sage publishing. The articles appear in a teacher textbook.
I’d love to share my experience and help others in any way I can.
I’d love to be involved!
