Smiles, I thought I had dropped under the radar of the “MEME” tag of 7 things….but then Sharon caught me…….so I will share…..

7 things perhaps you did not know about me.

1.  I was chosen to go to Saltzburg, Austria my Junior Year of college to attend school there for 8 months.  I was unable to raise the funds for travel and have always regretted that.  Someday I will get to Austria — and I will sing on the hills.

2.  I was homeless for 6 weeks once and lived out of my car.  I never knew each night where I would sleep — but by 4pm each day someone would offer me a place to sleep.  One day I said “God, I just can’t handle this anymore, I need a place to sleep.”  30 minutes later my phone rang and my old college professor/friend called and said that their daughter was going on a bike trip and they needed to raise some cash – and would I like to rent a room.  I moved in that night.

3.   I love to lay in the grass and just stare at the ground and watch it come alive the longer I watch.  I love looking at the sky and watch clouds move.  I prefer sunsets to sunrises, mountains to beaches, I adore tree covered streets, and I will live somewhere that has 4 seasons before I die.

4.  I am published in “PiggyBack Holiday Songs” where I received $10 for my contribution and a free book.  I am on page 30 and page 84.  I also was published in the Print Shop Teachers’ Guide — (c) 1999.

5.  I am a people watcher and can sit in malls, airports, etc and just create stories of people I see.

6.  I have heard God speak audibly three times to me.  Twice, while driving my car, a hand touched my shoulder and a voice said “pull over.”  I did so and both times avoided being involved in crashes where people were killed.  Once, when wrestling with God about a man in my life, I heard Him say, “Jen, you want him for now, I want him for always, you need to back off.”  I did.

7.  I am afraid of heights or I am afraid of falling — I am not sure which it is.  Even step ladders give me the heebie jeebies.  However, this did not start until I was in my 40′s.  Not sure what provoked it.

ADDENDUM:
Since posting my original 7, I have been tagged 3 more times……so, just for fun, I will add 2 more thoughts.

a.  I enjoyed drama and choir in High School and was Mrs. Paroo in our Spring Musical my senior year and directed our Senior Class Play “How to succeed in business without really trying.”  But my most favorite role I have every played was a 3.5 Diskette called “FLOP” in Colby’s Missing Memory with a kid’s choir.  (kinda prophetic, huh!)

b.  I have been to 3 concerts in my entire life:  Barry Manilow, John Denver, & Sandi Patti when she was just starting out.  I always wanted to see the Carpenters, but never got to and I also was going to see Keith Green but he passed away 1 month before the concert.

Now, my job is to tag 7 other people to share about themselves as well…..and I think these 7 have not yet been tagged — so…….

1.  Ryan Bretag
2.  Gail Braddock
3.  Colleen King
4.  Debbie Schinker
5.  Karin Biel
6.  Dennis Grice
7.  Paul R. Wood

Consider yourself tagged!  And if you are not listed here, but would like to share……feel free to add yourself to the list.

  1. Jen- Thanks for including #6. I enjoy hearing how faith impacts the lives of educators “around me” that I respect. When God speaks to us we all would do well to listen.

  2. You are such a deep character!
We will never know every thing about you!
    Here is my post!

Jen — You had me at #5 but then I read #6 and I felt joy. I too have felt the hand on the shoulder but never the voice. You are truly blessed.
